January 7

The above pictures are from lunch. I’ll talk about that a little farther down.

This was a yucky morning. The 5 of us went out with our umbrellas to Leicester Square. Then it started raining harder and harder and we decided to have an early lunch at a pub.

Charles Dickens used to frequent this pub when he was alive. We weren’t informed if he continues to frequent it.

We ate upstairs. This was the view from the window. We had sandwhiches, except for Charlie who had ham and eggs—a huge amount and he ate it all. Charlie ate a ton this trip.

The rain had let up after lunch. Yea! So we had thought about going to a show, but it was still pretty expensive, even with half-price tickets. So we walked to Picadilly Circus and then Trafalgar Square.

There was a bagpiper and some performance artists in the Square.

We went into the National Gallery. About 2 1/2 minutes later, we had to evacuate because of fire. Charlie was concerned, but we were so close to the entrance, it was no problem. More excitement than we had anticipated though.

So we went around the corner to the National Portrait Gallery. We saw portraits from the Tudor kings & queens to the current queen and princes. Very interesting.

Then we walked to Covent Gardens

and the Seven Dials. Quite different than other areas we had been in earlier this week.

We were ready for a snack & break so we stopped at Caffe Nero. Yum!
