Our last day in Rome was a big one! We walked to the North American College for Mass. Fr. Josh wasn’t able to meet us at the gate because he was lining up for the procession by Deacon Michael from Baltimore met us and showed us to our place. The Mass was lovely, with good music and a seminarian choir. Then we had brunch with the seminarians. We sat with the Baltimore group—Fr. Josh, Deacon Michael, Fr. Christopher and Justin. It was great company and great food. After breakfast Fr. Josh took us to the roof for the best view in Rome. It was quite windy up there.

After the roof we walked to central Rome, not too far.
We passed a photo shoot.
We got coffee and hot chocolate at San’Eustachio’s. The hot chocolate was thick and dark.
I asked Marty to discreetly get a picture of a soldier. They were at all piazzas, churches and sometimes in the metro stops. It was somewhat disconcerting and a reminder that the alert level in Europe is very high.
We hung out at the Pantheon in the sun for a while and then we walked to where we were meeting Fr. Bernhard, a friend of the Seattle people.
Marty & Eddie purchased a watercolor from a street artist. We met Fr. Bernhard for pizza. It was a lovely visit and dinner.
After dinner and walking around we stopped for gelato. Charlie got Nutella flavor. That was his favorite!
Fr. Bernhard took us to the Trevi Fountain. Only Marty & Charlie threw in coins. It was very crowded.
Then we went to San Francisco di Paolo where St. Maximillian Kolbe said his first Mass.
By the Spanish steps (which are closed for cleaning) and home. Long but good day!
The next morning we all got to the airport (Mom and Dad about 4 hours before us). The security line was 1 hour 15 minutes. We were glad we had allowed extra time. Heathrow airport was so different! Our security line the next day was 2 minutes! The flight home was uneventful and so our trip was done!
