We had a great dinner last night at the Bennett Pit BBQ (Oooo! Mr. Bennett!) It was very close to our hotel. Which was good because it was close to 7 and we were tired after a big day at Dollywood. Dollywood was a lot of fun. It was 57 (with 92% humidity!) in the morning, but heated up to 90 pretty quickly. Mostly it was pleasant in the shade though. And there were water rides and play areas and mist blowers throughout the park.
We saw the Smokey Mountain String Band. They were a banjo, guitar, and bass player combo and did bluegrass songs. Pretty amazing how fast the guitar and banjo players could pick.
Marty & I went to a show about birds of prey. I got smacked in the forehead by the leather straps of a red-tailed hawk flying low! Marty gave a donation to a raven called Friar Tuck who tucked the bills into a box. He loved the show.
Charlie loved the carosel and the flying elephants. Marty and Eddie loved the River Battle (boat ride where you shoot people on the land and they can shoot you --with water guns). They also liked the demolition derby (Bumper cars). Mark says he's not going to let them drive ever! No one but Mark wanted to do rollercoasters, so we didn't do them.
We missed Dolly by 3 days. She's going to be in Friday and Saturday. Oh well. : ) There is a lot to do here, and there is also a water park--Dolly's splash Country. Eddie was extremely disappointed that we didn't have him wear sneakers because he wanted to do Adventure Mountain (kind of like a ropes course). But they don't let you do it in sandals.
My back is still touchy, but it seems to be getting better every day. Please keep praying for it.
